How do I get to the Voyageur Multi-Use Trail System from Mattawa?

 

The trails are only a 3-minute ride from the town of Mattawa. Take Hwy 533, turn left onto Murphy's Road

and follow it to the end where the Trail Head is located. There are signs to direct you as you proceed from Mattawa to the 533.

 

 

How do I get a trail map?

 

Trail maps are included with the purchase of a trail pass. Please see more info to the right of this page.

Can I ride my ATV on town roads?

 

Yes, by-laws have been passed that allow ATVs on local roadways in Mattawa and the surrounding townships. Single rider only (passengers are permitted on VMUTS). ATVs are not permitted on highways (even on the shoulder) and UTV/Side-By-Side/Two-Ups are not allowed on any roadway.

 

 

Can I ride with a passenger on my ATV?

 

You can't ride double on any established road but on VMUTS is is allowable.

 

 

Do I need to bring insurance and ownership papers?

 

Yes, as this is a Provincial Law you are required to have insurance and ownership papers with you (if you are operating a motorized vehicle) so you are able to produce them at the request of police or game wardens.

 

 

How old do you have to be to ride on the trails?

 

The Off Road Vehicle Act R.S.O. 1990, CHAPTER O.4

permits children to operate off-road vehicles with the close supervision of an adult.

 

Age limit for driving

4.  (1)  No owner of an off-road vehicle shall permit a child under the age of twelve to drive the vehicle.

R.S.O. 1990, c. O.4, s. 4 (1).

 

Exception

(2)  Subsection (1) does not apply where the child is driving the vehicle,

(a) on land occupied by the vehicle owner; or

(b) under the close supervision of an adult. R.S.O. 1990, c. O.4, s. 4 (2).

 

 

How do I register for rallies?

 

Rally registration options are included on each rally information page.

 

 

Do I need to buy a trail pass to attend an ATV rally?

 

No. The cost to attend the rally is all you need to join us for an event.

 

 

Where can I park my trailer and unload my bikes?

 

For general trail use there is some room at the trail head and at access points along Hwy 533 and on Kearney Lake Road.
